Do you ever feel like you are losing as many clients as you are gaining?
It’s a frustration a I hear trainers talk about often. How can I get more of those reliable clients who stick around for a long time?
You’ve probably read or heard me talk about this before. Back when I was running my bootcamp, I used to have a serious problem. A problem I call Leaky Cup Syndrome.
No matter how many clients where hustled for, each round of bootcamp always had the same number of people.
After getting fed up by this I went to my sign up sheets for the past 4 rounds of bootcamp and realised that only 6 out of 10 clients stayed on for the next bootcamp round. No wonder I was having to hustle so hard and still end up no where. I was having to refill nearly half my bootcamp class each round.
Enter the name Leaky Cup Syndrome (LCS).
Fast forward 6 months and I had fixed my LCS. My classes where thriving. The 6am class had over 30 campers signed up and I had to hire an assistant to help me. Over the 10 sessions I ran each week I was seeing 80 different campers. Each round 8-9 out of 10 clients stayed on.
I had become a better trainer because I was spending less time finding clients and more time educating myself. I wasn’t worried when a camper could no longer train with me because I knew I had enough momentum to replace them next month. And that made me much more understanding to my clients needs.
It took me 6 months of trial and error work out how to fix LCS but by the end I had some really simple systems in place to keep things going.
Last year, I retraced my steps and worked out exactly what actions had the biggest impact in taking my bootcamp from struggling and leaky to thriving and enjoyable.
Later this week I’m going to share with you the 3 big questions trainers have about running and growing their fitness classes along with my answers to them. Jump on our email list below to make sure you get it.
